Laser Gum Treatment

Laser Treatment for Gum Disease Marietta GAGum disease affects millions of Americans each year, despite the fact that the United States has the world’s best dental care. A dentist can only do so much for patients, and it is then up to them to take the necessary steps to promote optimal oral health at home and between regular dental visits. Gums that bleed easily are often the very first sign of gum disease. Many people tend to dismiss this symptom as just a simple annoyance; however, ignoring this symptom can cause them to allow gum disease to become irreversible, causing significant damage to their teeth and gums. When gum disease is present in its earlier stages, there are treatments that can be used to clean the gums so that the infection is healed and does not continue to spread. Laser gum treatment is a safe and reliable treatment for gum disease, and Wayne G. Suway, DDS, MAGD is proud to offer it to his patients.

Laser gum treatment is a very precise treatment that is designed to treat the soft tissues of the gums that are infected before they become irreversibly damaged. With the precision of a laser, the bacteria and infection that are deep between the gum line and the teeth can be removed. The laser treatment also treats the areas below the gum line to prevent further infection from forming. In fact, laser gum treatment has been shown to be more effective than antibiotics at killing the bacteria that causes gum disease.

Gum disease is not a small irritation that should be ignored. In most cases when gum disease is caught in its earliest stage, gum disease can be reversed by simple treatments. However, laser gum treatment is now safely and effectively used for those who have significant gum disease. With the precision, effectiveness, and ease of the procedure, laser gum treatment is a dental advancement that has helped many people save their smiles.

Dental Extractions

Atlanta GA DentistsHuman teeth come in limited quantity and are only replaced once during a lifetime. For many, these limited teeth are able to last them throughout their entire lives. While they may need to have a cavity filled or other dental work done, they still make it through with all of their own teeth in tact. However, this is not the case for everyone. Genetics, injury and improper oral hygiene are major causes of why millions of Americans require dental extractions each year. While dental extractions are not an ideal situation for the completeness of a person’s smile, it is often a necessity that a tooth is removed. Wayne G. Suway, DDS, MAGD has the experience, knowledge and skill to gently handle dental extractions. He is committed to keeping patients informed about what needs to be done to benefit the entire mouth, while also using the gentlest approach possible because he truly cares about his patients.

When a tooth is diseased, decayed or has suffered traumatic injury it is important for it to be removed from the mouth in a proper amount of time. Often, this is a very drastic situation and can bring about feelings of anxiety and loss over an incomplete smile. However, a tooth that is severely damaged or decayed can cause extreme harm to the rest of the mouth. Infection can easily spread through the gums to neighboring teeth and cause a whole mess of issues. Dental extractions may not seem like the ideal solution, yet they can provide an immediate resolution. There are also many ways to restore the smile after a dental extraction, and Dr. Suway is an expert in dental restorations. He can use his 35+ years of experience and know-how to transform your smile into a healthy and beautiful one.

If you are looking for a gentle, yet extremely qualified, dentist that does excellent dental extractions, please contact the practice of Wayne G. Suway, DDS, MAGD. Dr. Suway has a wealth of knowledge and experience with dental procedures, and patients have given testimony again and again about his gentle nature and the sensitivity of his entire staff. Bone Loss Acceleration After Dentures

Dental Implants Dentist in Vinings GAIf you are missing teeth and considering your options, you have likely been educated on the significant advantages of choosing dental implants. One of the primary benefits to dental implants is that they provide an artificial tooth root. Your tooth root is essential to stimulate the bone surrounding and supporting your teeth. Without proper stimulation, your alveolar bone begins to deteriorate and reabsorb within your body, causing premature aging.

Dentures can replace your missing teeth, but they do not address your missing tooth root. While you may understand that dentures don’t prevent bone loss, you may be surprised to know that they can actually accelerate this problem. Multiple studies have shown that denture wearers lose bone structure at a faster rate than those who choose not to replace their missing teeth at all. One such report was from a 25-year study in 1972 by Tallgren in Denmark, which revealed that bone loss is 10 times faster in the first year after the teeth are removed when a denture is placed over the ridge. Unfortunately, this bone loss continues to occur year after year.

Dentures can accelerate bone loss because they contribute to the wearing away of the ridges of bone they are placed on. Every time you bite down or clench your teeth, there is pressure placed on the ridge that causes the bone structure to reabsorb. The consequences are not only ill-fitting, uncomfortable dentures but also premature facial collapse over time. Bone loss after dentures can cause the lower portion of your face to sink in, which can make you look much older than you really are.

The only way to prevent bone loss after missing teeth is to choose dental implants. You may elect to have an implant-supported bridge or dentures, or a crown restoration placed on top of your implant. The process can be more lengthy and expensive, but it can preserve your overall facial appearance.

Missy Stone

I have known Dr. Suway for 30 years. My parents found him originally and made me a believer and life long friend and patient. In the years since, I have recommended my husband, son and friends. I would hear that going to the dentist was a fear of many people. I could never understand that because it was always a pleasure to come to Dr. Suway’s office. His staff are so professional, gentle and kind. It’s nice to see the same faces twice a year. You can tell they love working with him. I tell people that Dr. Suway gives the best shots – you can’t even feel a pinch. My son who hates needles, has no problem getting a shot for a filling. I love Dr. Suway’s personality. When you walk in the office you might hear him singing a country western song. I have porcelain veneers on my front teeth and am so thrilled. It’s been 10 years and they are still white and beautiful. He is an artist and perfectionist who loves to make people happy. I recommend Dr. Suway to become your dentist. He is a man of character and professionalism, yet down to earth. If you choose Dr. Suway, you’ll get an excellent dentist, but also a friend for life.

Dennis & Maria Liber

Dr. Suway is very relaxed and as a result we find that we are very relaxed as well. He takes the time to listen when we have concerns and he answers questions fully. We never feel like he is rushing from us to another patient. When we do need fillings, crowns or any other extensive work, he is concerned that we are comfortable and feeling no pain.

Through the years, we have found Dr. Suway to be a skillful perfectionist in all areas of his profession. He keeps abreast of and utilizes the latest dental techniques to improve and ensure the longevity of his patient’s teeth. He is a caring, personable professional who always greets his patients with a sincere, ready smile. Dr. Suway is also a ‘confidence booster.’ I say this because by the time I was 30 years old I was wearing dentures. He immediately recognized a self-conscious young wife, mother and professional who needed his professional help. His approach to boosting my confidence was through dental implants. At that time dental implants were a relatively new procedure. Dr. Suway carefully explained to me the advantages of dental implants and was proactive in working with my insurance provider to ensure that they understood the correlation between the required dental procedures and health plan benefits. I can smile with confidence forever because of Dr. Suway. Dr. Suway’s staff is a mirror image of his positive professionalism. They are always courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and personable. Appointments are scheduled at your convenience. You know that your time is valued because at the precise time of your appointment you are greeted, then immediately seen by either Dr. Suway or a hygienist. His work is outstanding and he is one of a kind.

Dr. Suway has done many procedures for me including root canals, crowns and a bridge. His work is beautiful. He is truly a perfectionist and that is exactly what I want in a dentist. I would never trust my smile to anyone other then Dr. Suway.
